What We Do
New Song Community Corporation consists of four distinct but connected initiatives:
  1. New Song Learning Partnership:
    An after-school and teen mentoring program.
  2. Affordable Housing:
    Focused on the development and provision of affordable housing to community residents.
  3. Community-based, self-sustaining business ventures:
    NSCC plans to provide jobs and job training for residents in the community through business initiatives.
  4. Summer Time Enrichment Program (STEP):
    A month-long day camp for grades one through eight.
  5. Harlem Center for Healthy Living (HCHL):                                      

          Exercise and nutrition classes to promote health in the neighborhood.

      6. English as a Second Language Program (ESL):

          Weekly classes for neighbors who are learning English.

      7. New Song Community Computer Lab:

          Ten I-Mac Computers open to local neighbors to use for free.


MILESTONES

2004: Restored an abandoned tenement building that had been vacant for over 20 years into eight units of affordable housing and space for program development.

2008: Harlem Center for Healthy Living launched under the direction on Vivian Kurutz. By the end of the year, one hundred members joined.
